The RAW TRUTH Workshop is an essential experience for any actor – both technically and emotionally. Kim Farrant is a gracious director who encourages you to share all of your greatness and truth in an extremely nonjudgmental and safe space. She is an exceptionally generous facilitator - never asking you to do anything without participating in it first herself. Her approach to craft encompasses many techniques, creating a solid foundation for actors to apply towards any scene analysis. Her ability to demolish any blocks you may have, then open you up to a state of free expression is incredible! As long as you are willing, Kim will meet you all the way. She helps you find your voice and birthright as an artist. Her list of RAW TRUTH Tools, accompanied with a Self Care List, make it easier to continue the experience beyond the workshop. These are precious tools that help maintain the overall wellbeing and readiness of your instrument. Kim's workshops are invaluable and life changing. Since partaking in both RAW TRUTH and SEXUALITY ON SCREEN, I have been booking back-to-back jobs and am booking ahead of schedule. Not only has it improved my career but my personal life also. I now turn up to every moment with willingness, honesty, courage, compassion and an open heart. If you're eager for a shift in both you work and awareness as an artist then I urge you to put aside the time and follow on from RAW TRUTH with the SEXUALITY ON SCREEN workshop. The gifts you receive will not be regretted!
The Raw Truth Workshop with Kim was exactly what I needed in order to dive deeper into authenticity and range in my emotional work. The intensive two day process and is expertly designed as it unfolds, to allow you to feel safe and trusting with Kim and your fellow actors. I have discovered much more affecting ways to unlock and connect with characters and scripts and how to go deeper, safely, with my acting partners. I am such a fan of her generous and courageous way of working. She is right with you every step of the way.
Kim’s classes are by far the most challenging, hands on, and enjoyable classes I have ever done. I have now done 4 courses with Kim (1 with Michael Holt) and have grown so much as a person and a performer every time. The environment that Kim creates is unlike anything I have ever been apart of. Somehow Kim gives you tools to access all parts of your emotional and spiritual “stuff” and implement that into scene work, while still maintaining the most incredible, loving, supportive environment. The personal growth I have had as an artist is a testament to Kim’s passion and dedication for mentoring and guiding actors to find the best parts of themselves and bring this forward into their work. To put it simply, Kim sets you free of any restrictions, or boundaries you have on yourself as a person and performer, then arms you with tools and exercises to strengthen you and aid you in owning your magnificence! I thoroughly recommend “Raw Truth” and “Sexuality on Screen” to anyone wishing to be challenged in the best possible ways. I adore your work Kim and thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for everything. I can’t wait for our next encounter!
It's taken a while to write this because I can't seem to find the words to articulate well enough what effect the Raw Truth Masterclass has had.
When signing on to join the class, I wasn't sure what to expect but after listening to a fellow actor share his passion for what he had learnt in a previous class and how safe he felt, I jumped right in. It was all or nothing.
I'm so glad that I did. Taking part in the Raw Truth Masterclass with Kim is one of the most confronting, challenging, scary, revealing yet totally exhilarating and freeing things I think I have ever done. The work felt like a complete stripping of self. A peeling back of layers to your true self, without any blocks, thereby creating freedom to honour character and story from a clean and open place.
What I am still surprised by, is how much the work has stayed with me. Kim's techniques and approaches to acting embody the whole self, physically and emotionally and the practices that you learn stay with you. I feel so much more confident now with my work and with the tools that Kim has taught me. I can't wait to test the work and to push the boundaries even further with her Sexuality on Screen Masterclass next.\\
Kim has an amazing ability to identify personal blocks. In acting, like in life, holding back for fear of being too much or being inappropriate, just robs everyone of the experience. This is the gold – where empowering vulnerability comes to play, and your story is welcome in the performance arena in service of character. That simultaneous mix of feeling exposed and liberated – it is right on the pulse of life. Working with Kim is like taking a gentle walk together in areas where life has impacted or perhaps caused some level of trauma, and having compassion for yourself and for the part you are playing.
With acting, there tends to be a focus on how much an actor can give in a performance - often at the mental and emotional cost to the actor, and this is intensified with scenes involving sexual elements. Kim’s classes bring the invaluable balance – filling your own cup to be able to give more, especially when emotional moments need to be sustained and repeated again and again on set.
Kim offers practices for the long-term career and bigger picture, a safe space to explore, and gives a truckload of tools for an artist to help themselves and others on set, especially applicable in crunchy situations we can encounter!
Kim’s work is ahead of the industry in many ways and I would argue a necessary element to any acting study.
Once awakened to this kind of work and understanding of self, along with continuing to use the practical tools and exercises offered - you just don’t see the world the same anymore.
